A Voluntary Grammar is a post-primary school that is wholly and independently managed by a Board of Governors.
Boards are made up of a selection of Trustees, Teacher Representatives, Parental Representatives and Departmental Representatives. A school Principal normally sits on the board in an ex-officio capacity.
Voluntary Grammars are both Catholic and non-denominational. They are both single-sex schools and co-educational.
