GBA congratulate NI A-level students on outstanding performance

The Governing Bodies Association, the representative body for the Voluntary Grammar sector, has congratulated pupils in Northern Ireland on another outstanding performance at A-level.

GBA Director John Hart said, “Once again Northern Ireland has significantly outperformed counterparts in England & Wales with another outstanding set of A-Level results.

“We have seen yet again that Northern Ireland’s pupils can compete and succeed at the highest level. With competition tougher than ever for university places we must continue to give our young people every advantage open to us.

“At a national level it is interesting to note the popularity of Maths & traditional Science subjects returning amongst pupils as the government continues to promote the STEM agenda. Pupils are not naïve and they are aware that top Universities are looking not just at grades achieved but at subjects taken. How these natural trends fit within the NI Department of Education’s policy of the Entitlement Framework remains to be seen.

“For those who may not have performed as well as they hoped they shouldn’t panic, and seek proper professional advice on options open them. A-levels are just one step in a person’s development and there are many routes to a successful career.”
